Each time I make a vegetable, (corn, green beans, broccoli) I place the leftover vegetables in a freezer bag and place in the freezer. I add to the same bag each time until have filled the freezer bag, Once the bag is full with leftover vegetables, I am ready to make a pot of homemade vegetable soup. All you need to add is meat, if desired, water, canned tomatoes and seasonings, and the soup is on.

It was Thanksgiving and I was cooking for my family and several relatives that year. I looked forward to showing off my cooking skills. I had a nice turkey browning in the oven and several traditional side dishes planned including mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing and dinner rolls. All morning I happily slaved away over the hot stove. The relatives finally arrived and everything was set. Putting on the finishing touches I pulled the stuffing from the oven and set it on top. I made drinks for everyone and called them to the kitchen for a buffet style serving line. My cousin's hungry husband jumped to the front of the line just in time for the glass pan of stuffing to explode all over him and the rest of the food I had just prepared. I had set the stuffing on an electric burner that needless to say was still set on low heat. I tried to strain the glass shards from the gravy to no avail and the stuffing was beyond help. I think next year I'm going out for thanksgiving dinner. Thankfully no one was seriously injured.
