A denture cleaning tablet dissolved in a cup of hot water is a wonderful way of cleaning coffee and/or tea stains off cups and mugs.Simply brush a small amount of the solution on the stain, let sit for a few minutes, rinse and wash as usual.

January 2006 “Cooking Disasters” Winner —

I was living in my first apartment and still experimenting quite a bit in the kitchen. It was St. Patrick's Day, however, and my mother had at least taught me how to make Corned Beef and Cabbage. I had a dear friend who was an Irish New Yorker and far from home, so I decided to fix my 'sure fire' recipe for him. But when I got to the store (the night before the holiday) all of the green cabbage was gone! All that was left was purple. 'Hmmm, cabbage is cabbage' I thought. Well, much to my surprise while tasting almost the same, the two veggies cooked up very differently. When I opened the lid to the pot at the end of the cooking time, I discovered that EVERYTHING in the pot had turned purple!! The potatoes, carrots and even the meat... which kind of resembled brains! Needless to say, it was not the traditional Irish feast that I'd planned for my friend.
