I am usually very tired when it comes time to cook dinner. In order to make dinner preparation quick and easy, I spend one day each month prepping foods for use in recipes. I brown beef and saute diced chicken and then freeze them in 1 pound packages. I peel and chop veggies and fruits and freeze them in 1 cup packages. The night before, I pull out whatever ingredients I need to defrost and put them in the refrigerator. When it comes time to prepare dinner, the majority of the prep work is done and I just have to throw together a few ingredients.

My cooking disaster happened when I tried to make Shrimp stir-fry. I am usually a pretty good cook and I found a new recipe for Shrimp stir-fry and decided to give it a try. I have a big wok which I heated vegetable oil in. I realized that the shrimp had not thawed in the fridge like the package said they would. I thought... well I will just throw it in the wok anyway because it had big sides and I never dreamed the oil would pop out. Well, the minute the frozen shrimp hit the oil it started popping everywhere and burned my arm in about 6 places. My husband got home right as I was trying to get the burning oil off my arm. He told me to go to the Minor Emergency clinic to get it checked out, but I was trying to act brave so I said no. I continued making the stir-fry. So, we sat down to eat and the stir-fry tasted horrible! My husband tried to eat it, knowing I hurt myself making it. Finally I told him "this is nasty" and we went out to eat. I burned my arm (which still has a scar) and the stir-fry could not be eaten. I think this was a pretty big cooking disaster.
