September 2002 “Cooking Disasters” Winner —
Craig Griffin

Some friends called me upon arriving to town and I invited them over for dinner. Not having much time and lacking a microwave, I decided I would thaw the hamburger meat (in its wrapper) in the hot August sun on my deck, sounded like a good idea for a bachelor and cooking rookie.

I placed the meat on the deck and got busy making the side dishes. All was going fine and on schedule, now time to check on the hamburger meat, I opened the drapes to the deck door and found 3 crows pecking through the hamburger meat packaging! My fine feathered friends were making off with my hamburger meat!

Well health codes prevented me from using the remainder of the meat left, so we ended up ordering some local barbeque chicken to save the day.
