Chinese Style Pork Tenderloin
From the Cookbook “Asian Grilling” by Vicki Liley

Ingredients:

1 pound pork tenderloin
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon hot bean paste
2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
¼ teaspoon five spice powder
1 tablespoon shaved palm sugar or brown sugar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
¼ Chinese cabbage, shredded

Preparation:

Place pork in a shallow nonmetallic dish. In a bowl, combine soy, hot bean and hoisin sauces, garlic, five spice powder and sugar and mix well. Pour mixture over pork, cover dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 – 3 hours. Drain pork, reserving marinade. Preheat a grill pan or barbecue, then brush grill with vegetable oil. Grill pork until tender, 4 – 5 minutes each side, brushing with reserved marinade during cooking. Remove from grill, wrap in aluminum foil and allow to stand for 5 minutes. Cook cabbage in a saucepan of boiling water until tender, 3 – 5 minutes. Drain and spoon into serving bowls. Thickly slice pork and serve on top of warm cabbage.
