Steak Sauce Glazed Burgers with Cheddar Cheese and Onions

May is National Hamburger Month! What better way to kick off Barbeque Season this year than with this all time American favorite? This recipe is provided by the grill master himself – Bobby Flay – and incorporates the zesty, spicy flavor of his Mesa Grill Steak Sauce.

Serves: 4


Ingredients:

24 ounces ground sirloin or chuck
Salt and pepper
˝ cup Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill Steak Sauce
8 slices cheddar cheese
1 Vidalia or other sweet onion, sliced into ˝ inch thick slices
4 hamburger buns

Directions:

Preheat grill or grill pan.
Divide meat into fourths and shape into burgers.
Season with salt and pepper and brush each burger on one side with some of the Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill Steak Sauce.
Grill sauce-side down until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
Turn over, brush with more of the glaze and continue grilling for 2-3 minutes for medium rare doneness.
During the last 30 seconds of grilling, place 2 slices of cheese on each burger and a few slices of onions.
Place each burger in a bun.
